The View From Up Here

Traditionally December – actually the Holidays, Thanksgiving to New Years – is slow in the video production industry. The slump in advertising, end of year budgets have been spent plus the fact that people are too busy thinking about getting through Christmas and all that brings to take away from the focus from shooting video. But this year December was a boom here at Lone Peak. Every day was a paying client in the edit bays. It was so busy that both Steve and Paul had to sneak in a few days of vacation when most years they would have taken the last two weeks of the year off to be with their families.

If it sounds like we’re complaining, even a little, we’re not. To be this busy in this economy is truly a blessing.

We began the week of Thanksgiving by producing a series of spots for Utah’s cHIE. (Clinical Health Information Exchange) Because the weather had turned we got to travel to Sunny St. George for the shoot. We shot on our new Sony F3 which is a sweet piece of gear that we have come to like a lot.

We also scheduled productions for our friends at Welti Call, Advanced MD, SelectHealth, Doug Smith AutoPlex and Tall Trees Productions to name just a few.

We had all settled in for a long winter’s nap when we got a call just before Christmas from Teleperformance. They have been good customers of ours for many, many years. Teleperformance is a multinational corporation that operates 263 inbound call centers in 50 countries. It seems they had produced a video in another country for use in the U.S.. As it turned out, they didn’t like the finished product… So our Christmas vacation was blown to smithereens when the call came in to help them with a video to replace that one.

Somewhere in all of that Bob found time to bring a new staff member on board. If you have been around the industry for any period of time you might remember Dennis “Leno” Rowley. Dennis, Leno as he’s been known for years, was one of the founding members of the old Video West. In his career he has produced more than 3,000 projects. He brings something to Lone Peak something we weren’t short on to begin with – and that’s more experience. Among other things Dennis is responsible for directing our sales effort. We hope you’ll all join us in welcoming Leno aboard.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank Merit Medical for helping us to have a great year, plus providing us with lunch as a thank you for helping them out. When they came to us last February and told us that they wanted 25 videos produced and doubted that one production company could handle that load we were only too happy to show them we could.

However with all of that said we are NEVER too busy to help you with your next production. We are in the business of making our customers look good. We’ve been doing it for 33 years. In that time we’ve no doubt found ways to fit any number of clients with varying degrees of drop dead deadlines. So call Dennis “Leno” and see what he can do for you with the deadline on your video.
